Let Android Help You Pick Your Next Phone

One perk of being an Android fan-boy is the fact that you have the ability to choose a phone that is right for you. Unlike Apple, you have multiple phones to choose from, all of which support the Android operating system. But with these choices, many are left wondering which phone is right for them. Well, Android has made this decision process a little easier with their online match test.

Android has created a webpage that is dedicated to finding out which phone fits you best. It’s basically Android E-Harmony. The website asks a series of questions. For example; how often do you take photos, and do you care more about taking a sweet selfie, a high-quality photo, or both? How often do you use your phone to text, take phone calls, or to write emails? There are 12 areas the questions focus on, but you don’t have to answer questions in all 12 areas. However, you do need to pick at least 3 to get results. Keep in mind the more questions you answer, the better the recommendation Google is able to make as they will have more information to work with.

I went through about 15 tests and tried to be as diverse as I could. One test I went all out and answered the questions to make it appear that I used my phone every day in every aspect of my life. I then focused on music, and streaming movies. I ended with a phone that I simply needed to use to talk or send text messages. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I was not recommended the Samsung Galaxy S6 or HTC One M9 after every test. While many of the tests (not all) had one or both of those phones in my “top match”results, I was still given other options. Which is great, because my grandma has no need for Samsung Galaxy S6! (Okay, maybe she does!)

The website is extremely easy to use, and you can change or remove an answer to any question you have been asked at any time. Once you have received your results, you can see your “story”, which will remind you of what you answered to each question.

After you have complete the test, you can tweak your preferences a little further by choosing your carrier, screen size, and price range. The website also gives you some key info about each recommended phone, for instance: the size of the phone, battery life, camera quality, and processor. You can also compare the phones side by side.

While the site is a great first step, it’s always a good idea to check out the phone you’re thinking of in a store to give yourself an extra look. But instead of spending 3-4 hours at the store looking at 20 different phones, you can go in as an educated shopper and impress those Verizon employees!

What are your thoughts? Do you think that Androids’ match site will help those looking to purchase a new phone? Let us know what you think in the comment section below.
